Okay, I know. I’ve been bad. Really, really bad—especially considering the fact that if you want a blog to work, you should post several times a day to keep readers coming back for more.
Um, let’s not get crazy with our expectations, though.
BUT, at the very least, I should be able to get a piping-hot post on the table once a week. I fell off the blogging wagon. Sorry. I realize it’s going to take awhile to regain your trust … prove I’m not just going to cut and run when the going gets tough.
So, to start on the road to recovery and celebrate my coming back into the fold, I thought it might be cool to give you a little sneak peek into what I’ve been working on this past month (?–I really have no idea when my last post was, which is pathetic on so many levels).
*drumroll, please*
It’s Promo Marketing’s first-ever Responsibility Issue! I have no PDFs or anything to share with you, so that big reveal might be a bit of a letdown, but I’m hoping to build suspense, so work with me. It’s coming polybagged with our September magazine and it’s full of information you need to know to build your business and safeguard your world.
The biggest takeaway I have to share from the experience as a whole is that, with issues of environmental stewardship, product safety and social responsibility, the rules of the game are constantly changing. It’s actually kind of frustrating. In fact, while writing my product safety feature, the Consumer Product Safety Reform Act was passed, so I had to go back and revise a good majority of it to include the new information. Never say George W. Bush didn’t do anything for me …
Seriously though, while I’ve only been involved in a tiny way, I can see how overwhelming these issues can be, particularly for smaller-scale suppliers and distributors. Consider our upcoming supplement to be an offering of encouragement, a little bit of insight and some gentle pushes in the right direction. We all need to own our part of the equation—armed with the right information, we can make serious strides in matters that are bigger than all of us.
As a writer, it was really nice to stretch my legs a bit with some new content, and I know I’m not the only one who feels that way ‘round here. The team’s been working like crazy to create a factual, relevant and straight-talking guide—and now that we’re safely in the final stages of putting it together (whew!), I feel comfortable saying, in my humble opinion, it succeeds. Plus, it looks so awesome.
When it does hit your mailbox, definitely give me a shout at [email protected]. I’d love to hear your feedback on it.
That’s all for now. More next week (I promise).
